Terms of Service

Last updated 5 October 2026

These terms are an agreement between Rasmus Wejlgaard, trading as Updawg ("Updawg", "we", "us"), and the organization that creates an Updawg account ("you"). The person who accepts them confirms they may bind that organization.

1. The service

Updawg is a hosted service that reads the package state of Linux hosts you enrol, proposes updates according to policies you write, and — only when you or your policies approve it, and only as far as each host's own configuration allows — sends signed jobs to the Updawg agent on those hosts. It consists of the web portal at app.updawg.net, the API, the agent gateway, and the agent software.

You decide what runs on your hosts. Updawg never runs arbitrary commands: a job is one of a fixed set of package operations, signed with your organization's key, and an agent refuses any kind its local configuration does not permit.

2. Your account

3. Plans and payment

4. Acceptable use

You must not:

Security research is welcome; report findings tosecurity@updawg.net.

5. Your data

Everything your hosts report and everything you put into Updawg remains yours. We use it only to provide the service to you, as described in ourPrivacy Policy. Where we process personal data on your behalf, we do so only on your instructions, which these terms and your use of the service record, and only to provide the service. What the agent collects is listed in full atdocs.updawg.net.

How long data is kept depends on your plan, as described on the pricing page and in the documentation. If you ask us to delete your organization, its data is deleted within 30 days, except where we must keep billing records by law.

6. Updates are your decision

Package updates are published by your Linux distribution and third parties, not by us. Updawg tells you what is available, applies what you approve, takes snapshots and runs health checks where you configure them. You remain responsible for deciding what to apply, when, and for testing changes appropriately — including through the staged rollouts, maintenance windows and approvals the service provides. We are not responsible for the content of the packages themselves.

7. Availability and support

We aim to keep the service available and will tell you about planned maintenance in advance where we can. Free and paid self-serve plans have no service-level agreement. Support is by email athello@updawg.net.

8. Warranties and liability

The service is provided with reasonable skill and care. Apart from that, and to the extent the law allows, it is provided "as is" without other warranties.

Neither of us is liable to the other for loss of profit, revenue, goodwill or data, or for indirect or consequential loss. Each party's total liability under these terms in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of £100 and the fees you paid us in that period. Nothing limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.

9. Ending the agreement

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will email owners at least 30 days before a material change takes effect. Continuing to use Updawg after that means you accept the change; if you do not, you may cancel before it applies.

11. General

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have exclusive jurisdiction. If any part is unenforceable, the rest still applies. You may not assign these terms without our consent; we may assign them to a successor to the business, including a company we form to run Updawg, and will tell you if we do. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement about the service.
